Is Obama's Church Racist?

Asking the question "Is Obama's church racist?" seems controversial, but it is only the first of a series of questions. Barak Obama is a member of an activist church that is "unashamedly black" -- Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ.

Having no shame is good. Yet, is it racist to live by "black values" or pledge allegiance to "all black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System"?

I thought Christians lived by Christ's value system. I thought the Christian faith transcends racial boundaries. Wasn't Dr. King's dream a society which judged on the content of character, not race?

Here's the clue -- the church is more about liberal politics than traditional Christian teaching.
According to one news report, the church and/or the pastor have supported:

  • Opposition to the Iraq war
  • Gay rights
  • Palestinian causes
  • So, what exactly does Obama see in his church? What exactly does he believe?
