10 Questions About Global Warming

John Hawkins has an interesting article called "10 Questions For Al Gore And The Global Warming Crowd." Here's my summary of his points:

1. Since the earth has warmed and cooled several times in history, how do we know human activity has caused this warming?

2. If CO2 is the cause of the warming, why was the earth cooler between 1940 - 1975 when the concentration of these gases was highest?

3. If we can't accurately predict the weather a week in advance, how can we predict warming or its effects accurately?

4. Since Mars has experienced global warming, doesn't it make sense that the Sun is a greater factor than human activity?

5. Predictions and concern over global cooling in the 70s were wrong, so how do we know the current concern about warming isn't wrong?

6. If 17,200 scientist can't find evidence of human-caused global warming, why should we believe claims about "scientific consensus"?

7. Since the proposed action to correct alleged warming won't improve it, why push the changes?

8. Since we know that in the past the earth has been much warmer than today, why should we believe that we are facing a problem?

9. Since we know that in the past we've had more CO2 in the atmosphere than today -- without past warming having occurred -- why should we think current CO2 levels are a problem or a cause?

10. Since periods of global warming seem to coincide with periods of increased Sun activity, why don't we attribute the warming effect to solar activity?
