If global warming is a serious threat, wouldn't any effort to combat it be welcome? One would think so, but not all solutions are accepted -- only solutions that are "ideologically blessed" by the environmentalists who believe in global warming.
For example, cutting carbon emissions from autos and factories is fine -- probably because it restricts industrialization and mainly impacts people. But
stimulating the growth of phytoplankton in the ocean to absorb carbon dioxide is not acceptable -- because it would allegedly impact animal species. Even though it would help restore nutrients and phytoplankton levels in the ocean, it is opposed by some environmental groups.
I guess an ideologically correct "crisis" requires an ideologically correct solution...
