Thomas Sowell asks if the United States has become
morally paralyzed. Which raises other questions.
Sowell examines France at the beginning of WWII -- militarily superior to Germany but lacking the will to stop Hitler. He concludes by asking if the U.S. has become the new France in the face down with Iran.
In WWII, when France and the rest of Europe fell and Germany was attacked, an industrial nation, with a large population -- the U.S. -- made the difference for the Allies. So, if we cast ourselves in the role of France, who will save us?
When you look for industrialized nations, that could mobilize large forces, that would not face an Islamic insurgency and -- most importantly -- would be willing to fight beside us, the list is rather thin. I can't think of one. Can you?
