Clinton-Obama vs. Thompson-Gingrich?

Could the tickets in the '08 campaign be Clinton-Obama vs. Thompson-Gingrich? Wouldn't that be fun?!

First, is it possible? Gingrich is predicting the Democratic ticket, though it remains to be seen if Hillary and Barak could work together. I agree this is the Democrats' best chance. On the Republican side, several signs exist of a coming alliance of Thompson and Gingrich. Although I'm not sure this is the best possible ticket, it would draw my enthusiasm.

Now, would it be fun? You bet! Think of the hatred that could be expended! Though Gingrich has been out of the main stream for a while, the Left would have a replacement for Cheney -- someone to detest. On the Right, Hillary would rightly draw criticism for her liberalism.

This match up also provides someone to love. True, the feminists would love Hillary, but I was thinking of Obama. The Left could gush and congratulate themselves. How PC they could feel! Meanwhile, conservatives could love Thompson's persona and positions.

Think of the debate match ups! The brittle, prickly Senator from New York against the warm, friendly former Senator from Tennessee. Hillary, with strident voice, would attack. Thompson would parry and thrust with humor. Who do you think people would like the most?

In the Vice Presidential debate, Gingrich would slice and dice the vague and inexperienced Senator from Illinois. Obama's only advantage would be to limit the damage by participating in a single debate.

Stay tuned...
