A Senator is calling for firm action on illegal aliens. No, not a U.S. Senator, a Mexican Senator.
And no, not action to stop illegal aliens, but action to support their access to the U.S. Repeat offender (previously deported) illegal alien Elvira Arellano has been deported again. To which
Mexican Sen. Humberto Zazue declared, "We cannot remain quiet in view of this injustice and must ask for firm action from our authorities."
According to Arellano, the U.S. is to blame for "letting people cross over without papers." Yes, Elvira, we have a problem. No, Elvira, the problem is not the U.S. breaking the law. The problem is the U.S. failing to enforce the law. You, Elvira, have repeatedly broken our laws.
No, Senator Zazue, deporting Arellano is not an injustice. It is a just action taken by our authorities --
regardless of their motives. I hope your grandstanding leads to your reelection in Mexico, Senator, because any U.S. Congressman who takes sympathetic action will be targeted by an outraged electorate.
